Cannabissearch.com Buzz Rating: While the high isn’t as potent as Purple Urkle, Hindu Kush or GDP, Afghani Orange definitely provides a potently sedative effect that lasts around an hour and can result in sleep in many smokers. California Orange is also a serious munch-producer, so those who smoke it should certainly take that into consideration.
Appropriately named, this bud is literally orange, from the thick orange pistils that cover these dense buds. The orange hairs are from the Afghani #1 mother, while the citrusy flavor and slightly more cerebral effect is generated from the California Orange male used to pollinate the Afghani #1 female. These buds have a powerfully floral aroma, with a citrusy and hashy flavor. This is very tasty bud with a moderately potent effect. Also, smokers should be warned that they may devour everything in sight, when smoking Afghani Orange; this is a serious munchie-producer.
Growers can allow Afghani Orange to vegetate up to 2 months, if they really wish. In fact, since they don’t grow very tall, it’s preferable to vegetate them longer. One thing is that the grower will need to prune the side branches a lot more, to allow light to penetrate the bottom of the plant. Many growers also don’t prune these ladies at all, instead adding CFL lighting under the plants, in addition to primary HID/LED lighting above. Speaking of LED, these ladies have shown to do very well under LED, becoming more potent than when grown under HID. HID still has shown to produce the heavier yield in this strain, so perhaps a combination of LED/HID would be more appropriate. Outdoors these ladies can produce up to 10 ounces per plant. They are very mold and mildew resistant and can be grown in a greenhouse, outdoors or indoors. Look for this strain wherever you can get it. It’s a great all-around strain and is very good for beginning growers as well as seasoned ones.
