For the first time ever, the number of Montana residents who use medical marijuana has exceeded 30,000, but whether have access to the drug they need is in question. Why? Because also for the first time the number of people providing medical marijuana in Montana has gone down.
This really shouldn’t be a surprise, since there were several federal raids on MMJ businesses earlier this spring. Nevertheless, say state health officials, at the end of April Montana had 4,755 caregivers registered, while there had been 4,848 in March – a loss of 93 MMJ providers.
As for the number of users, officials put it at 30,969 as of April 30th. That represents about three percent of the entire population of the state.
